We, Nako Co., Ltd., have been a manufacturer dealing with legwear for children, men, and women, blending the highly skilled techniques of Nara's sock craftsmen with a new sense of fashion. We have been focusing on offering socks that make our customers delighted.
In recent years, the sock industry in Nara has been declining due to the increase in the importation of foreign products. However, as a person born and raised in this sock-producing area and being involved in the sock business, I have come to feel the need to somehow preserve our craft for the next generation.
It has been about 110 years since sock manufacturing began in Koryo Town. We believe that our commitment to craftsmanship will continue to thrive and pave the way for the next 100 years. We aim to make use of our local expertise and geographical advantages as the “Town of Socks” to keep producing comfortable socks that make people want to keep wearing them for many years to come. Socks made in Koryo, Nara for everyone
We established our sock manufacturing and wholesale business under the name "Nako Textiles" in 1983, in Koryo Town, Kitakatsuragi District, Nara Prefecture. Koryo Town has been a famous sock-producing town since the Meiji era.
Since our foundation, our wish has been for numerous customers to experience the high-quality socks crafted in this town. The name "Nako" itself is derived from "Nara Koryo."
For our customers
We produce socks always thinking about what our customers feel when they wear them. Being low-priced does not necessarily mean they are good socks. We keep an eye on trends and produce comfortable socks that are gentle on the body.
For local industries
The sock industry in Nara is facing hardships due to inexpensive labor from other countries. The domestic production of socks goes through multiple processes involving yarn suppliers, knitters, finishers, and homeworkers. If we allow the domestic sock industry to keep declining, it could lead the production system that our predecessors have built since the Meiji era to collapse. Our mission is to offer socks that bring joy to customers by utilizing the high level of techniques that people in Nara have for sock production, as well as by adding a new sense of fashion.
